The Association for the Protection of Lake Achigan (APLA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation, protection and enhancement of Lake Achigan, located in the Laurentians region.
Founded by citizens and residents concerned about the quality of their living environment, APLA acts as a mobilizing actor with the community and municipal authorities.

HISTORY OF THE ASSOCIATION
Since 1964, APLA has been working for the ecological preservation of Lac de l'Achigan .
Our mission is to protect the integrity of the lake and its surroundings while fostering an engaged community aware of the importance of this vital ecosystem.
Founded in 1964, the Association for the Protection of Lake Achigan (APLA) began as the League of Lake Achigan Owners, with a clear objective: to improve the water quality of the lake and to defend the interests of the riparian owners with the municipal council of Saint-Hippolyte.
Over the decades, APLA has evolved to become a key player in environmental conservation, community education and sustainable management of natural resources around the lake.
ROLE WITHIN THE MUNICIPALITY
L’APLA agit comme interlocuteur et partenaire auprès de la municipalité afin de favoriser une gestion responsable et durable du Lac de l’Achigan.
Concertation et collaboration
L’association participe aux échanges avec les instances municipales concernant les enjeux liés à la qualité de l’eau, à l’aménagement du territoire, aux bandes riveraines et à la protection des milieux naturels.
Représentation des riverains
L’APLA relaie les préoccupations des riverains et contribue à faire entendre leur voix dans les discussions touchant la réglementation, les projets de développement et les orientations environnementales. Contribution aux décisions éclairées
En s’appuyant sur l’information scientifique disponible et sur les meilleures pratiques en gestion des lacs dans les Laurentides, l’APLA soutient une prise de décision basée sur la prévention et la protection à long terme. Soutien aux initiatives environnementales
Lorsque des projets municipaux visent la protection du lac — qu’il s’agisse de programmes de sensibilisation, de suivis environnementaux ou d’améliorations réglementaires — l’APLA agit comme partenaire mobilisateur auprès de la communauté.
Par son rôle de collaboration et de vigilance constructive, l’APLA contribue à maintenir un dialogue ouvert et productif entre la municipalité et les citoyens, dans l’intérêt collectif du Lac de l’Achigan.
