APLA is a citizens' association committed to protecting Lake Achigan and its environment.

 

It is not a government body and does not possess regulatory or law enforcement powers.

 

Some responsibilities related to land management and the enforcement of regulations fall under the jurisdiction of other authorities. APLA's role is to raise awareness, provide information, represent the concerns of its members, and collaborate with the various stakeholders involved.

 

APLA does not adopt municipal regulations.

 

Municipal regulations are adopted by the competent municipal authorities.

 

The APLA can monitor issues related to lake protection, publicize the concerns of its members, and participate in discussions when the issues affect its mission. However, it does not decide on the content of municipal regulations.

 

APLA has no authority to enforce municipal regulations.

 

The application of municipal regulations is under the authority of the services and persons designated by the Municipality or other government bodies.

 

An important distinction.

The APLA is asking that the issues threatening the health of the lake be taken seriously. This does not mean that it has the power to enforce the regulations governing these issues.
